Write 300-330 words-opinion/critique/column interrogating the topic and slightly related to Architecture about the two readings and the lecture presentation attached.
The intersectional understanding of gender and sexuality has moved from the
academic parlour into the maze of mass media with radical consequences for the
social and legal apparatuses within the discipline/practice of architecture. Early
90’s interest on the genderization of space has been displaced by a more
nuanced conversation on the production of space itself — the active and
repressed subjectivities, oppressions and inequalities that still dominate the
field. The lecture will explore the architectural branch of the #MeToo campaign
through the “Shitty Architecture Men” spreadsheet controversy; Andrés Jaque’s
theoretical production through the analysis of Grindr, and the intersection of
class, gender and desire in the 21st century.
