There has been a lot of controversial research over the years. In the world of social science, perhaps none more so than Milgram’s persuasion experiments.

Do some quick research on these experiments – Google as necessary. Then write a brief essay (no less than 250 words, no more than 400) – that addresses the following questions:

What did Milgram do? Outline his process briefly.
What knowledge was gained from the experiments? What did they contribute to our knowledge of the world?
Why are they so controversial? In what way did they potential break ethics violations?
In your opinion does the knowledge gained from these experiments outweigh the results? Why do you think this?
Could you conceive of a way to tweak, or approach the topic differently, that would gain the same information without such great ethics concerns?
